National Museum Visit Part of The Kingdom of The Scots in the museum, this targe and Broadsword both date from the Jacobite Rising of 1715. The targe is believed to have been carried by the Marquis of Huntly at the Battle of Sheriffmuir. The broadsword was made in Edinburgh around 1715 by Goldsmith Harry Bethune, it has a silver hilt and is engraved “Prosperity to Schotland and no Union and for god my country and King James the 8”
